All You Need to Know, facts and rumors about the upcoming Magento 2 release.
Magento 2.0 – a complete revamp of the Magento code base – has been under development for quite some time. It is now at the Beta stage of development and expected to be released in March/April 2015.
The new revamped code base of Magento 2 will allow for cleaner installation and upgrades, as well as better performance and scalability.
Some of the improvements:
– Full Page Cache.
– Jquery
– Product Management.
– Access Control.
– Menu system and navigation
– Testing Tool Suite. (Unit Testing, Integration, Functional and Performance)
– Support for alternative databases. (mySQL, Microsoft SQL, Oracle ++)
– Zend Framework 2
Magento 2 will not be backwards compatible with Magneto 1.X or Extensions for 1.X due to major changes in structure and layout.
Magento will be releasing migration tools to help with the data and code conversion from Magento versions 1.x to Magento 2.0.
